LC Connect Community Terms & Conditions

Welcome to LC Connect, an independent community space created to help Lincoln City and surrounding-area residents connect, share information, ask questions, discuss local issues, support local businesses, and stay informed.

These Terms & Conditions apply specifically to the LC Connect community hosted on Group.app. By creating an account or participating in LC Connect, you agree to the following terms.

Community Conduct

LC Connect is intended to be a place where people can have conversations without being afraid that they will be removed simply because someone disagrees with them.

Different opinions, viewpoints, and political beliefs are welcome. Disagreement is not a violation of the rules.

Members are expected to treat one another with basic respect. Personal attacks, threats, harassment, bullying, intimidation, or repeatedly targeting another member are not allowed.

Healthy debate is welcome. Attacking the person instead of discussing the issue is not.

Local Discussions

Posts should generally relate to Lincoln City, Lincoln County, local government, elections, businesses, events, community resources, public safety, local concerns, or other subjects relevant to our community.

Occasional conversations outside these topics are fine when they are appropriate for the community.

Elections & Political Discussions

Local election discussions are allowed and encouraged in the designated election area.

Candidates, residents, and community members may participate. Members may support or oppose candidates and may express their own political opinions.

LC Connect itself does not endorse a candidate simply because a candidate, supporter, or opponent uses the platform.

Political disagreement alone will not be grounds for removing a member.

Local Businesses

Local businesses are welcome to introduce themselves, share information, and advertise in the designated Local Businesses section.

Please keep business promotions in the appropriate area and avoid repetitive posting or spam.

Accuracy & Responsibility

Members are responsible for the content they post.

When presenting something as fact, members are encouraged to provide a source when reasonably possible. Opinions should not be intentionally presented as verified facts.

Do not knowingly post false or misleading information, impersonate another person, or intentionally misrepresent another person's statements.

Privacy

Do not post another person's private or sensitive information without their permission. This includes private phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses, financial information, or other information that would not normally be publicly available.

Members should also use good judgment when sharing their own personal information.

Prohibited Content

Content may be removed for reasons including threats or encouragement of violence, harassment or targeted bullying, illegal activity, impersonation, spam or scams, sexually explicit material, posting another person's private information, or repeated violations of these community terms.

Moderation

Moderation is based on behavior, not viewpoints.

LC Connect reserves the right to remove content, restrict participation, or suspend or remove accounts when reasonably necessary to protect the community or address violations of these terms.

Whenever practical, minor issues may be addressed with a warning before an account is removed. Serious violations, threats, scams, illegal activity, or conduct that creates an immediate safety concern may result in removal without prior warning.

LC Connect also reserves the right to remove obvious spam, fake accounts, bots, or accounts created primarily to disrupt the community.

Member Content

Posts, comments, photographs, links, and other material submitted by members remain the responsibility of the person who submitted them.

The opinions expressed by individual members are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of LC Connect or Lincoln City Connect.

Third-Party Platform

LC Connect is currently hosted using Group.app. Use of the underlying Group.app service may also be subject to Group.app's own terms, policies, and technical requirements.

LC Connect is not responsible for outages, technical problems, account functionality, or other matters controlled by the third-party platform.

Independent Community

LC Connect and Lincoln City Connect are independent community resources. They are not affiliated with, operated by, or an official service of the City of Lincoln City, Lincoln County, or any other government agency.

Information shared through the community should not be considered an official government notice unless it links to or clearly identifies an official government source.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms & Conditions may be updated as LC Connect grows or as new community features are added. The current version will be available on this page.

Agreement

By creating an LC Connect account or continuing to use the community, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
